Limber tail in dogs – Pet tip 140
Limber Tail Syndrome (AKA cold tail, dead tail, broken wag) is quite common among some breeds of hunting dogs, such as Labradors, Golden Retrievers, Pointers, Setters, and Beagles. It is a condition in which the tail becomes limp and sometimes painful after exertion, particularly during inclement weather, swimming, or in an under-conditioned dog. It is a condition well-known to hunting dog owners and trainers, but not commonly seen by veterinarians. The syndrome is characterized by the swelling of the muscles at the base of the tail (the wagging muscles, which are also used heavily during swimming when the tail may serve as a rudder). These muscles are bound to the tail by a tight ring of connective tissue. As the muscles swell and expand, the connective tissue begins to serve as a tourniquet – cutting off normal blood flow.
When increased pressure within a confined space results in reduced blood flow, it is known as a ‘compartment syndrome’.

Hiya! I'm Hammie! I am a very well treated black bear hamster. Eventhough it's only me here I live in a hamster condo! There are three levels to my house! on the bottom floor you'll find my sleeping area, where I like to build a nest. You'll also find my wooden house for hiding from those nosey cats, and my litter box, Yes i do use my litter box! On the second level you'll find my favorite toy! My wheel! And my water of corse! And on the top level is my food dish and another hiding place that i have stuffed with my fluff to make it more comfortable! I love to sleep durring the day, and run in my wheel alllllllllllll night! over and over and over! I can't get enough of that wheel! My favorite treats are the yougert drops my mommie gives me! yum yum! I wonder what those cats find so interesting about me, they seem to sit and stare for hours! The other day my mommie scared my pants (no i dont really have pants) off! She was vaccuuming outside my cage and i wasn't expecting it! I couldn't move for over an hour, I was so scared!! I think I scared her too! Sorry Mom!!
