Veterinary Homeopathy 2

What is Homeopathy ?

Homeopathy is not a new medicine of the millennium, it is medicine that dates back 250 years. Like other alternative medicines such as acupuncture, osteopathy, physiotherapy it is used along with conventional medicine to help heal the body and mind.

The Principals of Homeopathy

Homeopathy is a holistic vision that sees the patient as a whole being not just the symptoms.

The animal’s behavior, emotions, its physiology and pathological lesions are all important factors that help to select the appropriate homeopathic treatment. The goal in homeopathy is not to get rid of the animal’s symptoms but rather consider the symptoms as a defense mechanism, signs or warnings from the animal’s body suffering from an unstable state of being that can be either physical or emotional. We are not treating lesions, but a patient suffering from those lesions.

In homeopathy, a substance capable of producing pathological lesions in a healthy individual, will be used homeopathically in high dilutions to treat similar lesions in a sick individual. That is the similarity principal. For example, “Apis”, a substance extracted from bee venom in a homeopathic dilution will help reduce congestion from an inflammatory lesion similar to that of a bee sting. If the principals of similarity are not respected there will be no response or effect from the homeopathic remedy.

Homeopathic Remedies

Their origins are mostly plants (and sometimes insects) derived. These plants undergo a process of dilution and dynamic shaking which conserves the energy of the product.

The products may contain one plant dilution or several different plants dilutions in the same dose, thus providing a wider mode of action. These products are offered in granules or liquid forms to be administered orally. Injectable and topical products also exist and are usually prescribed by your Holistic Veterinarian.

Healing with Homeopathy

A homeopathic practitioner is one who has studied hundreds of homeopathic characteristics. In practice, he/she evaluates the animal’s physical and emotional state as well as any changes in its life. These elements are crucial in selecting a precise and effective homeopathic remedy.

Use of Homeopathy

Homeopathy can be used to help treat liver and kidney diseases, control ulcers, arthritis and hormonal imbalances. It is also useful in immune disorders (allergies, auto-immune diseases) and problems due to behavioral or emotional crises.

The goal of treating with homeopathy is to reestablish an equilibrium between the physical and emotional being. However sometimes, even homeopathy has its limits, such is the case of large tumors, where surgical intervention is inevitable.
