Bully Cat
Alright... i want to kno what's the best way to fix this situation, I have 2 kittens under a year, my room-mate has 1 cat.. that cat is 12 years old, the three of them are inside cats, but once in a while they are let outside to our big back yard, well a couple of weeks ago the 12 year old female cat got beaten up by the nieghbor's cat, she's ok now after going to the emergency vet, this past weekend we heard the neighbor's cat again beating up another cat from the nieghbor hood inside our backyard! ... we'll find him walking around our house and yard, is there anything we can tell his owners or do in order to make him stop beating up the nieghborhood cats, i'm afraid of letting my kittens play outside .. in my own backyard!

We had one of those. An intact male who went around beating up everybody's cat and a few dogs to boot. Unless your town passes a cat control bylaw, there isn't much you can do. Sorry!

I feel your pain and anger! I have always had my cats beaten up by intact cats owned by irresponsible idiots - and yes, right on my own deck.
This is more than a nuisance, since intact males getting into constant fights can easily be carrying FIV, or leukemia and give it to your pets. At the very least, these attacks can result in abcesses and vet bills for you. You can try talking to whoever owns this cat and asking him to neuter it, you can take it and neuter it yourself, or you can take it to a shelter. Cats roaming on the property of others are considered to be stray, and you are free to trap and remove them. Or you will just have to keep your cats in, or go outside with them. The 12-year old should not be outside alone anyway, as she is too vulnerable. I am not recommending the shelter, but merely telling you what your options are. |

examine the cat very carefully (the 12 year old)
My old cat Pete was beaten up by a cat, i got a broom to seperate them as they were fighting, your not supposed to interupt a cat fight but my poor Petey was on the loosing side and looked at me like he was saying "help" so I had to do something. He was white and grey I looked him over and rubbed him all over and he appeared to be fine but about 2-3 weeks later he had a very bad smell to him, I had to put my nose right to his body to sniff out the problem and to my horror there was a small cut about 2 inches long that was extremly deep and had become infected I took him to the vet and they had to sedate him and clean out his wound and get antibiotics.

I would suggest going outdoors with your cats, like I do and if talking with the owner does not help(as I suspect)grab your hose and scare him away,no need to water the cat down, usually just seeing the water scares them.
Cat-bites are very serious,I know from personal experience,be it on your cat or yourself.
