Smile Miniature Schnauzers Puppy Color Change?

I would like to know if Miniature Schnauzer puppy's color change. I adopted a black and silver puppy and I noticed that it only has silver coloration on its legs. I'm wondering if the silver coloration will grow more on other parts of its body once it gets a little older. I appreciate it if someone can give their input on this. Thanks

I think I remember one of our Minature Schnauser owners here saying that they do turn silver as they mature.

our first one harley was black silver as a baby she turned salt and pepper.

austin was black with bits of white, now 4yrs old he is dark grey and white specks of salt..

cooper (mom pure black) he was black with white spot on chin and on chest now 1 year old now can still change.... lost the white pure black..

check the parents but you never know my breeder says the only thing she doesn't guarantee is colour

Check to see what colour he is at the base of his hair. Most of them will change colour and lighten up.

My schnauzer was extremely dark when we got him, and lightened up after a while.

My breeder checked the skin to see what colour it is. I guess if the skin is a really dark purple colour, the dog tends to be darker, but if it isn't, then the dog will probably be more salt than pepper.

Schultz is still changing colour and he is almost a year old. When I got him at 9 weeks, he was all black except for a spot on his chest and chin and now he is more of a charcoal colour with white eyebrows, chest, paws, and a white bum.

oooh, more schnauzer owners! yippee! We need to stay in contact!
My min.schnauzer was mostly black with a little patch of white on her chest and paws. She is turning more grey monthly and has more white on her chest now, up her legs and starting around the mouth. We named her Ebony, thinking she would be a perdominately black dog, but she is more grey now! oh well. She is 5 months now and needs her cut!

Please post some pics of your schnauzer!

Question Thanks for the helpful input!

Hi guys. I really appreciate you sharing your experiences with your dogs. So I guess Miniature Schnauzer's color change over time. I am very excited. I won't be getting my puppy until February because he is still too young. It is currently still under the care of my breeder. Just out of curiosity, for any of you who purchased their dogs in Canada how much did you guys ended up paying for it? I paid about $1200 canadian. Does that sound about right?

Did you get your puppy?

I posted a pic of Ebony before her haircut, and here she is now at 6 months. She is all grey and has much more white on her face, legs and chest, than when I first got her. Not much black left anymore!
Your price sounds about right. I got quoted from regst. breeders from $900 to $1100 within the GTA.
