Poor Jenny. I can't help but think many of the people from the zoo's are just looking at it for their own profit. One particular sentence bothered me:

For its part, the zoo association has clung to its traditions, saying the size of an enclosure matters less than the care elephants receive from zookeepers.

So it's okay to keep let's say, a person in a 15 x15 room, as long as they are being properly cared for. After all the size of the enclosure doesn't matter according to this.

I really hope she goes to the best place "for her!"

The Elephant Sanctuary in Tennessee is an awesome place, that's where they sent Tina, the elephant from the Vancouver Zoo,. Unfortunately, despite many treatments (alternative and otherwise) and loving care, her poor feet, after years standing on concrete, could not be healed and ultimately she died. Check out the web cam.

I hope this elephant ends up there.
Disgusting that politics should win out over the best interests of the animals.

What a sad story. I would think it's a no brainer as to where to send her. She has been on display long enough. Let her enjoy the rest of her life in peace.

Duhh the sanctuary. Why the hell would you want to send an elephant to a tiny place in Mexico? Frankly I don't trust Mexico.

The elephant is cuckoo and really, just send her to the one in Tennessee. That sounds really nice. She's had a sucky life. I'd rather her be roaming free. Her problems are not physical, they are mental. Therefore, a free range to roam in would be more appropriate for a mentally ill elephant. If she was crippled or something, then I'd say a smaller place would be okay with better care. But she's healthy otherwise so she deserves a quiet and peaceful life.
