Purebred miniature poodle
hello
so much interest in these designer 'mutts'.....and curious that the purebred poodle is the sought-after breed to mix!! Why not the real thing? Why not enjoy the poodle as he/she is meant to be? Mine is adorable and I know what to expect as she grows...I enjoy the company of poodle owners, the socializing of poodles and the clubs that cater for these outstanding dogs. What messy sounding names of mixes with poodles......What a wonderful, rich history that belongs to the real poodle. I hope more will make pets of these dogs. |

I think they use the poodle because it is "supposedly" non-shedding. I wish they'd stop doing this too  and leave the breed as it was meant to be.

Point is, why don't people just get poodles. They're smart, beautiful, come in all sizes and colours. Why bother getting a cross when you could get a poodle.

I think that a lot of people think that if they have a poodle, they have to have it clipped like the "typical" poodle, and lots of people do not have the time or money to do that. But they do not realize that a poodle mix will more than likely also require money and time for grooming.
I always wonder that same thing when I see an ad for a poodle mix and the price is higher than you would have to pay for a purebred. *sigh*

Why can't poodles look like this? Instead of the stereotype!

Exactly! You breed for mutts with the poodle fur, so why not just get a poodle? Everybody I know who has one loves their doggy to bits. And they live forever too.

I have had two purebred poodles and they were the BEST!
Mitsy lived until she was 15 yrs old and Sammy lived until 17! They were both the most loyal, loving, trusting doggies ever!

Absolutely agree- this is something where the expression (One I have never liked (Mainly because all I heard my life was how to talk properly, good grammar et al - my mom was a teacher and she critiqued EVERYTHING, sigh! but alas, it fits here -) if it ain't broke, don't fix it!! Poodles are one of the all time greatest beed of dogs imho!!! Why change that!!! It's already perfect!!! Mine was and I woud not want him or any other poodle changed for anything, If it does occur by mistake, well that;s another story but please - no one can say breeding a poodle ensures a pet that does not shed. NO-ONE!!!!

People around here think of poodles as "a girls dog". If it is mixed with something that is a "guy's dog" (like a lab or golden), then the couple can agree on it. It is a stupid way to think in my opinion.

My hubby used to drive a Toyota Land Cruiser around with the top off. He picked up Den-Den2 from the groomers (this was before I started grooming him myself) and was sitting, waiting for the red light to change. People in other cars were laughing to see a little white poodle sitting primly in the passenger seat next to him. My hubby is a big man, bearded, and looked like he should have had a bear cub, rather than a poodle. He didn't mind as long as Den-Den got no bows or nail polish. Afterall, Den-Den's BOY! Poodles are fantastic dogs. Many have also been victims of BYB'g. They are the perfect house dog. There is a size for everybody. By the way, we haven't told Den-Den he's a poodle. But I think Corky knows and wants everything he's entitled to.

Probably not anymore - that photo was about 12 years old. Want a sneak peak what your brother will look like in about 12 years?
