my mini schnauzer

I only have one piece of advice to potential miniture schnauzer buyers, check their line for health problems. we have had our dog duffy for eleven years and it seems like he has had every sort of problem known to their line. when he was a pup he had to get his teeth pulled out because he had a double set and they weren't coming out. He has had chronic problems with his jaws and his teeth and in the last three years the newest thing is seizures. They are becoming more violent and the vet says that it isn't hurting him at all. We are now at the point where we are going to have to put him to sleep because more and more things are going wrong with him and no one wants him to suffer. One thing though that he almost seemed to like is that (this will sound a bit odd) he had a problem with too much fat being in his blood and every pet food we tried didn't help. we have had to put him on a strict diet of people food. lean hamburger, potatoes, chicken, corn, peas. this diet is the only thing that has worked and he absolutely loves his new meals.

Another thing to worry about with this breed as with every breed is temperment. my mom got our dog from someone that she works with that breeds them and our dog and every other one that we know from this breeder is slightly crusty and very territorial. just make sure you check out the breeder

jeel

I am sorry to hear of you baby's problems. There are problems in all breeds and there are alot of breeders that will stand by thier dog. I told my breeder that my dog has anal gland problems and she told me if it got bad before having surgary she would give me a new puppy.
She also knows that cooper is the center of our universe.

MS_PAWS, Misty is so cute! I don't have one but I have seen lots of them at the dog beaches here in Australia (W.A.)
I have been considering getting one if we decide to get a 2nd dog

I HAVE A SCHNAUZER!! I haven't been on here in a while due to gorgeous hot weather, sorry I missed your post.

Ebony is almost 1 (in August). She is very smart and a very good listener, she learns quickly. I have a couple of pics.
First a puppy pic (in winter), before her first haircut.

And taken yesterday. Her fur grows amazingly fast! She will be due another cut next week. Must be the good food I give her! She loooves swimming in the lake this summer, and digging in the beach sand. She has a wave in her fur now, from the water and hair growth! She can be a crazy dog too, she gets so excited when visitors come, and when she is going for a walk. She is a real sweetie though, my little shadow.
