article in Londoner re: hatred of pit bulls

Typical trumped up fearmongering response, found in small local rag:

Afraid of pit bulls

I will no longer go door-to-door for any reason including campaigning for politicians. I once had a pit bull slam against a door I knocked at and it scared the crap out of me. If these two breeds of dogs are not eradicated I will likely be getting a gun.

It is bad enough we have to be afraid to walk the streets because of the people on them but do we have to fear for our life because of dogs?

I am not afraid of any other breed. I have heard similar comments from people who deliver newspapers and flyers, mail carriers and meter readers.

Because guns are so much less dangerous than pit bulls. Good thinking, sport.

These TWO breeds? He can't even count?

Just plain ignorant. Good most of us do not want people canvassing especially for polititicans or trying to sell us something anyway. How many doors have you knocked on where the dog comes running and barking, my point exactly. This was probably written by one of those people whos kids are the ones kids most people are afraid of.

My first thought was, "Good. I hate stupid people coming to my door."

I really don't have a problem with the uninformed, for the most part, but it's this part--

Quote:

--that showed me the guy is a moron. I'm guessing that also tells us which political party he's canvassed for.

Jackass.

I'm utterly confused by the second breed, are the two breeds a "pit" and a "bull"? I too would be scared of a bull banging against a door .
But seriously, what a loser. If the door is closed, how does he know what breed it is anyways?

Pleeeeze but of course it is a pit or the other breed barking or jumping on the door because no other breed of dogs does these things. Yes this person is obviously more intelligent because they are going to get a gun. Give me a break

sWell that sounds more than a little scary...the guy knocks on your door and if a dog...oh, if a dog that he decides is a pit bull bangs on its own door, he will shoot! LOL what a head case! I mean door to door canvassers can be annoying, and I say that with all due respect, cause I do it for elecitons as well as my own business, but if they show up armed, well youve really got a problem! LOL..Psychos like that do more to bolser our side than anything else.

I know breed stereotyping isn't good, whatever the breed, but I'd be more afraid if I saw a Yorkie or Chi on the front lawn than a pitty...

Hmmmm, maybe I should go get a gun considering a few months ago one night, a 20 something year old male slammed his body against my door trying to push it open on me. I am not scared of 30, 40 or 50 year old men, only 20 something year olds... I am being so sarcastic, lol

At least with the big guys you know what kind of a fight to expect and have a better than average chance of grabbing hold of them... the little ones are fast and tend to fight dirty!

During the last provincial election, some campaigners came to our door only to be met by my three going nuts behind the door. Lucy would bark and jump to just about the top of the door while the other two were snarling and barking. Most ppl didn't stick around for the door to be opened. While I am certain that they were thinking that there were some vicious dogs behind the door, had they got through the door they would have been knocked over and licked near to death.
