Checklist For Pet Travel
It’s hard enough to pack for you and your kids when you go away as a family, let alone remembering what to bring for your pet. If you take what’s on this list, you’re sure to be in good shape.
MUST HAVE ITEMS:
- Health certificate
- Documentation of inoculations
- International permits (if necessary)
- The phone number and emergency numbers of your veterinarian and local animal hospital, as well as a number in the vicinity of your vacation site
- Approved shipping crate (strong, wire-mesh) or carrier
- Towels
- Food
- Treats (biscuits, etc.)
- Bowls for food and water (available as attachments to crate)
- For catsósmall, disposable litter box
- Flat-buckled collar and I.D. tag with his or her name and your address and
- phone number on it (consider tattooing or micro-chipping)
- Leak-proof bottles of cold water with ice cubes in them
- Pooper-scooper bags (a supply of plastic bags)
- Leash or lead
- A chew toy
NICE TO HAVE:
- Brush and regular grooming supplies
- Dry shampoo
- Sweater in case of cold weather
- Your pet’s favorite toys or playthings
- Camera
- Collapsible traveling cage
- Dog guard (when traveling by car)
- Harness (when traveling by car)
- Window grills (when traveling by car).
