My female cat got spayed, possible infection?
I got my male and female spayed and neutered last Wednesday. The make is fine and the female is in no pain. But the picture below shows one of her two incisions from surgery. It's a little more red because I felt it for warmth (it wasn't hot) and for pain.
Do you think it's serious? Or just healing. Thanks very much for the answers in advance. ![]() |

Hi Justin,
Welcome to the forum - Your pic got moderated but it shouldn't happen again and I'm sure some doggy people will have advice for you. Good on you for spaying/neutering! Good luck!

Looks like she has a bit of infection. I'd take your cat in for her recheck early and see if the vet will recommend some meds to clear it up. Meanwhile, a little polysporin on it won't hurt. Did she get a cone when she was fixed? If so you could put it back on to prevent her from licking it too much.
FYI - there is only one incision from spaying that I've ever seen with getting 40 or so females done. What you see at one end is actually a stitch. It will eventually disintegrate on it's own. The area between it and the other end is healed already. The red section looks like she may have ripped a stitch out. Best to have it checked.
