Waterless shampoo for dogs ?

My 18 mo. GSD had some trouble w/ some new food
we were trying out (PC Lamb & Rice) and somehow
barfed a bit overnight. Wife says he smells like baby barf.
Anyone ever try waterless shampoo ? We need to get
the smell out until we can book an appt. at the groomers.
We're leery of bathing him ourselves in the tub...

I have tried dog wipes which are supposed to be waterless, and you don't have to rinse- and they were disgusting.
They have this super gross overwhelming smell and it took a million of them to get the guck off my dog, and they were not entirely successful.
My strong suggestion would be to try your puppy in the tub and try to get her used to it. There have been times (like when my dogs got skunked at 3am) where bathing them at home was essential and I could not have waited to get them to the groomer.
I have been successful with introducing them to a dry bathtub by giving them treats, then I put 0.5 inch of water- more treats, 1 inch of water and a little water poured on their back- more treats etc...
It has worked for my four. My guys seemed most intimated by the sound of running water, and seemed to relax when I didn't run the water with them in or near the bathroom.

I have used the Natural Chemistry Waterless Bath on both cats and dogs, it seems to work quite well. Never tried it on barf smell though. I have always found it at most pet supply stores. The solution is pretty much odour less.

There is no need to rinse, just spray the area well, rub/brush in sort of thing.

I use dry shampoo , works great . Of course it's only for the fur , it doesn't get to the skin , unless your dog has a short coat.

I use the Hunter brand.

You can also try oats. It has an abrasive/ exfollient effect and you can rub it right down into the skin and around in the fur.

Not sure why your leery. As long as you have strong thighs to lock him in a death grip you should be okay

But seriously, I have at one time or another bathed all of my mutts in a bathtub ~ even Declan and he was WAYYYYYY bigger than a full grown GSD. One of those hand held shower massage units is pretty much a must when you're dealing with alot of fur though.

Just be certain to have something to protect the bottom of the tub. Dry him off REALLY well before you let him escape and make sure to have your camera ready when he races like a mad fiend all through your condo afterwards. laughing:

Hubs uses a mousse like shampoo we get at Walmart. I would wet a facecloth or paper towel, but some liquid soap on it and scrub the spot then use another face cloth to rinse it off. Then use the mousse shampoo.

Unless you found him laying in the vomit, there is a strong chance that the smell is isolated around his face. I recommend brushing his teeth and then wiping the face/snout area with a warm, damp washcloth/facecloth. If the rest of the body has an odor, you could take scent-free, alcohol-free baby wipes designed for newborn sensitive skin. With a GSD it will take a box or two. Is there a reason you can't bathe at home? I know it makes a huge mess.

I have found that after any episode of vomiting there is a sour smell and cleaning the teeth, mouth and chin hair helps tremendously with any odor.
