Unhappy help! my cat has something eating her flesh!

My cat has something eating her flesh on her stomach and chest area. It's eating her skin and flesh and is very painful to the touch. There are several areas of something raised from under her skin that are a dark color. It is getting worse everyday. She is still eating and drinking but very lethargic. Could this be a kind of worm?
