I would like a new dog

Some of you may have seen my post in another area on this forum I had a dog named Bandit who recently passed and I would like to get another friend. I dont paticularily want a puppy I would rather rescue a dog as long as it is not to too old and I thought it a good idea to post here as there seem to have been a few desperate cases in the past, I know I can go to local shelter etc... but I also know I will fall in love with all that I see as I hate to see them caged up......but there are a few stipulations

-must be a male
-get along with cats
-hopefully not a runner as I hate to chain my dog outside I like to let it roam the property.
-it would be mostly an indoor dog, I'm not one to go out for the day and leave my friend chained outside so trained would be nice.
-I'm not picky on the breed but dont think I would like larger breeds like st bernards, they are cute but messy and a little to big.
- I guess the most important is I would like it to be a dog that will socialize with other dogs as we have a 11 year old german sheppard (ursa the dominate one), and another dog that visits, she is a sweety and has no aggression (only visits for the day)

My hubby works and I stay home so there is alot of time for bonding and love.
We live on a farm so there is alot of room.
When we go on vacation our dogs come with us.
My children are all grown so there is no young ones to worry about.

If you know of a dog that desperatly needs a loving home and could live in this enviroment please let me know.
or email me with info
Thank you,
Debbie

After some thought I noticed I didn't mention a medium sized dog would be best I think........At Ursa's age a bouncy little dog would get on her nerves I'm sure.....lol

There are a lot of rescues in Ontario

Go to www.petfinder.com

Go to Rescues at the top and select Ontario

Scroll through them and you can see lists of dogs at their facilities.

Thank you for the link

I have registered with petfinders and have been looking at all the possibilities,, there are alot of cuties out there I would love to give a home but unfortunatly I have the cats and my other dog to consider, I want to make sure that I make the right choice , and that we are the right choice for our new friend, I am going to make a few inquires today as some of the dogs don't have any info with them, but please keep me in mind , I saw a dog here somewhere I was thinking was just perfect for us....... but then as I read on in the posts I found he had been adopted awww Opps.....but thats a good thing right .......lol
Thanks for your help
Debbie

Debbie there are so many dogs available!!

Whichever you decide make sure that your furries meet the new potential family member before adoption to ensure they get along.
