I am an international student who wants to bring his dog and cat to toronto.
I will thank you if you could give me some tips of the regulations for bringing dog/cat to toronto/canada and if I need any kind of documentation regarding them.

Where are you bringing them from?

Each pet needs a valid rabies vaccination certificate, signed by a licensed vet, and that clearly identifies the animal. The certificate must be in English or French. There is no quarantine in Canada.

Do you know of a good a way to avoid any suffering from my dog while flying?

Any medicine? any other way?

Your dog and cat look like their good buddies. They must mean alot to you as so many people would leave them behind Lots of people leave their pets when they just move across town.:sad: I can never figure out how people can be like that.

I`ve always heard that you should never sedate a pet when flying as lots of them die from it, and there`s info about it here:

Your dog and kitty are beautiful and cute..:love:
I would worry mostly about having a very safe carrier,we've often heard about animals being lost at air-ports.
The cat looks really small,so you might even be able to have her with you on the flight,in a small carrier.

Actually you got me a bit into a kind of warry.
I have a good carrier though and I do concern off sedating my dog ??!!

Do not worry I will never abandoned my dog&cat for they are more than a family to me and to themselves.

I am a bit worried of the way they will adapt the canadian weather mainly in the winter, as you know we are used to 25-35c all year??

Do not sedate your dog or cat. This is not a good idea.

Better get used to MINUS 25!

Your cat will stay indoors, I assume? Won't be a problem for him and cats tolerate cold much better than they do extreme heat. Your dog will get used to it and grow a heavy winter coat, but for his first winter, he'll need you to get him a coat and probably boots too.

Make sure your carriers lock properly and welcome to canada. Also try and take the most direct flight non stop being the best because they do not take the animals off the planes on stop overs and they can be too long.

Good point, mastiff. Also less chance of some fool opening the cage and having the dog escape into a strange airport. The cage must be solid but I think they ask people not to lock them, in case there is an emergency and the animal has to be removed for some reason.

Whatever you do, please do NOT sedate them and I would take the kitty n board with me. Also, make sure your carrier meets the airlines specifications - call ahead to be sure. Airlienes are getting pickier all the time (within reason) and no more than i small animal is allowed in the cain at any one time. I hesitate to place your dog in cargo but ask the airline what the state of oxygen is in their cargo hold (some airlines are better than others tho it is all difficlut with international travel).
