Newf X pups 8wks old Montreal

Hi, our names are Kerry and Doolin. We are 8 week old Newfoundland cross pups. We are both very shy and laid back at the moment but that could just be because we are uncertain of our new surroundings. When you talk softly to us, we wag just the tip of our tails. We are very bright eyed and will gain more confidence with socialisation. We will each be looking for a family who will be able to nuture us and give us the love we've been missing. We will not be considered for homes that work fulltime as we will remain too shy in that setting. We are presently very good about using our puppy pads. Kerry and Doolin will be visiting the vet's this week for their vaccinations and to be scheduled for altering when they are more comfortable in their foster home.

I think I can foster them (- if they don't have a foster home already...). I got permission to try fostering them if they still need a place to stay! They're newfs- the man couldn't say no to me. And they're babies so he won't be too allergic.

I've been trying to talk to the man into either fostering or adopting another, but he hasn't given in yet! Do you have any pointers since you've suceeded????

Lol Prin, that was relatively simple... hehehe... send me a pm with a number and we'll have a chat. Don't get too attached to the big guy Doolin though... he's already spoken for.

Yes, appears Prin has a theme going with black dogs! It's wonderful to have the offer of foster, cuts down my numbers and means if I need to squeeze an extra one here, I can do so. It's greatly appreciated.

Doggies are my husbands "thing." The one thing he doesn't think it's silly to spend money on is the pup. I just showed him the pictures and he got that silly doggie grin. He says it's not practical right now since we're still in the puppy stage and just started our puppy kindergarten classes this week.

But.....hypothetically, if we wanted to adopt would it be fesible since we are so far away? So many times I see a little face and we have a nice sized yard, live on a cul de sac and we all love to love on the dog.

I could of course visit rescues right here--thats how we got Joey. But I do trust these boards and sometimes when you see these pictures you just fall in love you know?

You're only in New York state, no? That's not far. Our borders are touching... I think they would adopt to you (if you were good enough- some of them are tough!).

lol, Doolin is already going south of Albany to his new home and I'm keeping my fingers crossed as they are contemplating Kerry as well. They have 3 seniors so Doolin could use his lil sis to play with when the older crew gets tired of his puppiness.

I'm in New Jersey, so that's a few hours south. It's do-able for sure. The rescue agency where we got Joey was pretty particular, they turned down a family just before us. Flat out said "We won't let you take this dog." I like that in a rescue. !!

The only reason I can think of that they would turn us down is that our yard is not fenced in. We never let our guy out unleashed. Even though we are on a cul de sac, there is always the chance of a car, and there are other dangers outdoors as well. I'm working on the fence issue though as I'm really wanting to get a big boy in the spring.

But I'm home in the day except for the occasional errand or lunch. I work part time from home, and do some public speaking--which amounts to very few hours away, and for those my husband is usually home.

They can take a peek at our vet bills and see that we take our responsibility seriously. And my mother was teasing me about all the toys and the way we baby Cooper.

LOL !!! Do I sound as though I'm pleading my case? PLEEEASE let me have the doggie !!!!!

My husband is right though--we have to get through kindergarten first. Then I'll start working on him for a big brother for Cooper.

They're settling in here... They sort of fluctuate between too comfy and not comfy at all.. But it's a start. I tried, but I can't post a pic here, so it's here: http://www.pets.ca/forum/showthread....508#post215508

Barb, that can be easily answered, no they aren't available any longer. Take a look at the "fosterbabies settling in" thread and you can see the babies that belong to the entire forum. They were adopted, but were in fostercare of one of the members.

Have you checked petfinder for some newfs? Also, keep checking back here because there are a lot of rescues here. Good Luck.

Barbara

I tried to pm you but it says you can't received them.I know of a great pyrenese looking for a home.He is 4 yr old, vaccinated and neutered. He has seperation anxiety, will bark if left alone. This is a problem that may be cause after being abandonned more than once and may be corrected with a stable life.
