I can't let my Gigi go...

Unfortunately my Gigi - 12 yrs old American Eskimo has been diagnosed with multiple problems and she has lost 5 pounds in few weeks. Since yesterday she can barely walk and pee just on the floor. She looks great though but something is really bothering her. Her chest has a few shadows which were identified tumors. Her heart is not normal as well, beating quite fast. As well her white bloods cell is very high.

I'm going to the vet again tonight for further actions, but I just can't command to put her down. She's so attached to us, it makes me sobber even just to think of it now! I hope they can do some magic to make her better again.

so hear to hear of Gigi's health problems.....I know it is so hard to let
them go, but you have to think about her quality of life.

Talk to your Vet and find out if there are options, will a treatment help GiGi? Is it a matter of days/weeks??? Please don't let her suffer, the greatest gift you can give her is to not let her be in pain or distress.

My thoughts are with you, I hope you can make the right decision for you and your GiGi......

So sorry that you and Gigi are going through this.

You might want to go over some of the points on this Quality of Life Scale for ailing pets. It was developed by a veterinary oncologist (Dr. Alice Villalobos) with a great deal of experience treating terminally ill animals. Perhaps it can help you during this very difficult time.

Thank you guys for your support, we just came back from the vet and Gigi crossed the rainbow bridge tonight. We were so sad on one side but so happy that she's no longer in pain. She always had the same happy look on her face even though she was in deep pain, I knew she wanted us to be happy.

The vet told us the truth one more time that she had a few tumors in her chest, and probably more in her stomach too. Poor little girl, she couldn't take it anymore even though I knew she tried very hard. I hope all the best for her after life and she'll be always with us.

MAY I GO

by Susan A. Jackson

May I go now?
Do you think the time is right?
May I say goodbye to pain filled days
and endless lonely nights?

I've lived my life and done my best,
an example tried to be.
So can I take that step beyond
and set my spirit free?

I didn't want to go at first,
I fought with all my might.
But something seems to draw me now
to a warm and loving light.

I want to go. I really do.
It's difficult to stay.
But I will try as best I can
to live just one more day.

To give you time to care for me
and share your love and fears.
I know you're sad and afraid,
because I see your tears.

I'll not be far, I promise that,
and hope you'll always know
that my spirit will be close to you
wherever you may go.

Thank you so for loving me.
You know I love you, too.
That's why it's hard to say goodbye
and end this life with you.

So hold me now just one more time
and let me hear you say,
because you care so much for me,
you'll let me go today.

Dedicated to everyone who has ever had to put down a beloved dog.

Oh....so so sorry for your loss. Your heart must be breaking. But think of Gigi, strong and powerful taking great leaping strides across a beautiful green field. You've given her the gift of heaven. No greater gift.

My prayers to you and yours who are left behind.....
