Poor Roxy :(

As everyone her by now knows, poor Roxy has mammary cancer, as well as something going on neurologically. Well she is on 40mg of prednisone daily. Well the prednisone is no longer helping, and neither is the protein, she has been getting really loose stools/ diarrhea, even vomiting.
Well tonight just showed me how much the meds aren't working, she was taking a poo, she got up, then fell directly on her side, full collapse. After 2 seconds she did get up, but her hind end took longer.
She no longer wants to go on walks, a quick pee and poo, then turns around to go home. When we do try a little longer, a reg 5 min walk takes about 15- 20 mins.
Her arthritis in her right shoulder is bothering her more, all she wants to do is sleep.
What else can I do for her?
The only thing she is happy about now is food, and that is because of the prednisone.
I am in tears writing this, when will I know when to let go? I believe in quality of quantity, but being a rottweiler, she is very stoic in the pain, but I know she has lots of it :(
Just a couple weeks ago she seemed to be doing better, now a huge turn, Her cancer has also spread :(

:grouphug::grouphug::grouphug: RL that is so sad. I know you and you WILL know when...Roxy will let you know too. You have been so wonderful to her all this time...don't lose your confidence now. You are a great animal lover and that love will see you through.

I remember our walks last winter...she was so full of life :cloud9: You have done so much for her already...continue to follow your heart :sorry:

The thing that hurts the most, she only shows life when she wants food because of the pred :( tonight watching her collapse, I do not know if I am ready, or will see the signs, because she has shown lots of them :(

Aww, this is so rough. Is Roxy on any pain meds?

There's a quality of life scale at this link that can help you and your family determine when it's time to help Roxy cross the bridge: http://www.veterinarypracticenews.com/vet-practice-news-columns/oncology-outlook/quality-of-life-for-pets.aspx

Oh Rottielover...I so know your pain. It's hard to see them in this state and you want to do whats best for them. Just be strong and take a real hard serious look at the quality of Roxy's life.

In any event and whatever outcome you decide, we are all here for you.

Sending you and your family :goodvibes::goodvibes: and :grouphug: :grouphug:

Thank you very much guys, her eyes have not told me anything yet, either I have false hope, or she is not quite ready to go. I have started her on tramadol tonight, along side the 40 mg of prednisone. I want to fight as long as possible, I want to make her as comfy as possible. This is our last hope.

I am so sorry to here this Rottielover, I understand your hope, pain, and love. You have always made the right decision. Trust yourself, and know that you have given Roxie so much more than anyone would have had...she knows it too. Probably why she isn;t ready to let you go either.

So basicly she has a hard time walking and she's sleeping more ? I don't see this as a result of her cancer RL. She's just getting older. What you should do now is concentrate on the arthritis.

I started Bailey on the cartrophen injection yesterday. It's 1 injection per week for the first month and then , once a month. It's very affordable if you want to try this.

Frenchy, there is a lot more to it. Her back end collapses, she will be walking then all of a sudden she will tip over. I know what old age signs are, and if it were just that I can deal with it. There is a lot more going on than age.
I have her full file available, but would take forever to type.
