Hello!
I have little problem with my dog and I was wondering if anyone can shed some light.
It started on Tue that my dog started licking his penis..not excesivly but more then usual. Then Wed I come home from work and he is still doing it and I check it, touch it, and he kind gives me a protest...just jerks back a little...then I notice he has little white-yellow pus on the top of his penis and the top of his skin is a bit redish.
I call my vet right away I get an appointment within an hour they look at it and say that it could possibly be either kidney stones or urinary tract infection since there is no visible infection on his penis. They are offering to do X-Rays to see if there are any stones and urinanalysis...now in order to do the x-rays they have to put him to sleep...
I told them I would think about it and let them know what my decision is....
is there anything else they can check before they go to extreme and put him to sleep and do x-rays???? This action seems extreme to me......
What should I do???
I will do what is best for my pet ofcourse, and I am keeping a close eye on him to see if this is getting worse or better. Since this morining - it looks better and no discharge in sight! I took him for a walk last night and he peed normally, Iif he had kidney stones it would hurt to pass urine!
He ate less then usuall last night, but I get this with him a lot! he is eating his treats normally :)
This is a 3 year old Shih-tzu, nutered.
Thank you for your help!
