Trouble loading pets.ca this morning

Been having many problems with pets.ca today. At times it will not load at all and when it does load either it will not load a topic from "new posts" or takes a very long time to load. Not one topic in particular tho, just in general; and has been happening all morning.

I've been having trouble as well and have advised our host.

I've been having the same trouble, also getting the big Freeze. I was just putting it down to the dial-up.

It was really bad about an hour or so ago but seems to have improved a bit now. :thumbs up

I spoke too soon.....it's c-r-a-w-l-i-n-g again. :frustrated: Time to log off for awhile. :o

My "edit" took two minutes to post. :rolleyes: :frustrated:

I agree and apologize for this slowness.

We and our hoster are talking about how best to fix this more and more regular situation and the answer is looking like we need to upgrade our dedicated server. So last week's priority was spam..(which we have helped solve - notice almost no porn spam in the last few days ;) )
This week's priority is investigating and solving this regular slowness.

Sorry for the delay in all of this, it's just that sometimes one small problem can cause the slowness but FINDING the problem can often be difficult. Until recently our server capacity was looking like it was not the problem. Now it's looking like the small problems aren't the main issue. From our end changing servers is a big nerve wracking hassle but if it needs to be done...it needs to be done.

Thanks Marko. :thumbs up I just finally got to log back on this morning after trying for over an hour. :o

Some small tweaks are being done to the server today and it looks like we will be upgrading servers (again) this month and hopefully early this month.

Can members please give their opinions as to if the board feels faster today or tomorrow or for the next few days starting NOW.

I find it slow when you click on reply and waiting for you to submit the reply....

I was just frozen when I was posting a reply..

More tweaks will happen this weekend and a new server should happen early this month as well.

Faster than yesterday, but I'm still having some lagging issues - and a couple of times my reply window has come up "Can't load page" today.

It has happened to me too a few times the past couple of weeks,but I thought it was something with my high speed internet,or that the board was too busy,but then again,I am definetly not very PC savvy:laughing:

Marko I noticed in the past week when I log in.. The main page loads and then it immediately refreshes and the page loads again...I also find moving between threads seems to be slow to load.

Thanks everyone - please keep reporting slowness. We are still tweaking settings and plan to upgrade the server this month which will give the board a needed performance boost.

It still very hard to download any pictures , get into threads ... even logging on , very very slow.

really slow today, not worth trying to open or respond to any other threads than this one

Hmmm interesting Lukka'sma - Overall today I am finding the board much faster than usual during my very frequent checks.

Sill tweaking and testing until this issue is solved though.

I'm not having any problems today. :shrug:

I've noticed much improved speed over the past few days. Has anyone else noticed this? Or are people still having occasional trouble. Further tweaks coming this this Monday.

Some threads are still lagging for me. but over all it seems faster..

I have noticed that in the morning things are moving along great, then around 3;00pm-7;00pm it is slow..at least it was yesterday then it seems to pick up again..

I just wanted to also say thank you for trying to solove the problems of the site for the members..:highfive::thankyou:

Marko, I read in the paper on the weekend and then heard it on the news that Bell Canada are up to tricks and it is slowing servers down. I read it all but it went right over my un-tech head.

Not sure that has anything to do with the 'source' serving of our pages but certainly if Bell's server's are slowing things down and members surf the Internet via bell then every site including ours will be somewhat slower for those members using bell.


Another few tweaks were done recently - how's the speed been in general today?

mine has been excellent so far, usually gets slower in the afternoon tho, i'll let you know later in the day how it is...

Pets.ca is generally much better now tho a little slower in p.m. Now, do you happen to have an "IN" at Facebook???? :laughing::laughing::laughing:

Not much improvement overall for me. Today is so slow. I think I had one afternoon that it loaded like it used to but that was short lived.

I've noticed we're getting alot of spyware. I run my adaware right before logging on and if i'm on for awhile i run it again after. I'm getting 30plus counts.

I think you might be mistaken as spyware needs to be actively downloaded and there are no prompts to download anything from our site.

Can you please send me a log file (by PM or email marko @ pets . c a (no spaces) or something I can check out. I too have adaware and will run it shortly.

The site has been fairly good for me so far today. Just a couple of times I got "page cannot be displayed" when I was trying to post replies. :shrug:
