Looking to adopt a Pug

Sassys Mom

Our familys beloved Pug Sassy passed away from a blood diaease. We would like to adopt another Pug to help fill the void that Sassy left behind. We would like one that is no older than 5 years old. Having a Purebred is not a neccessity but would like for it to be the dominant breed. If you know of or have a Pug available for adoption please let me know.

Sassy must have been very dear to you. I am sorry for your loss.

You may want to go on www.petfinder.com and do a search in your area.

i have been checking there but there are only a couple available in my area and they are senior dogs. I just cant see adopting a senior and have to deal with another loss when its their time to move on.

Well what do you consider senior?
Some say 7/8 is senior but it really isn't for most breeds.

My last dog lived to 16yrs :D everyone thought he was a gonner by 10 and he really proved them wrong.

I know it's hard! Maybe let the rescues in your area know you are interested in this type of a dog, that may help them in getting a dog from a pound/spca that you can take.

A sample:

Vinnie is a 5 year old male pug given up because of a baby.....seems to be people can't have pugs and babies these days. He is fully vetted. We will get him June 5th and post pictures and more about his personality later.

Chica is a two year old female Pug/Chihuahua mix called a Chug by the breeder. Yes, they are purposely breed. Chica has the best of both breeds. She is only 10 pounds, black with a little white on her chest, muzzle and toes. She has Pug ears and a Pug's curly tail. She doesn't know a stranger and when meeting new dogs, she stands her ground with the best of them. Because of this, she gets along great with her foster-mates. She also gets along with cats. She would probably like to go to a home where she would have a playmate. No big dogs through. She is adventurous, loving, entertaining and full of personality. She loves to play ball, wrestle with her foster-mates and crawl in you lap the minute you sit. She is easily verbally disciplined, learns quickly and has a sensitive nature. A secure fence yard is a must but don't leave the front door open because Chica will want to see what's beyond the threshold. Chica came from a commercial breeder. She was purchased pregnant and had five pups then retired a few months after that. We are glad to have her in foster care and she is happy to be in a pet home. She prefers to sleep under the covers and she prefers to potty outside. Chica tested positive for heartworm when we got her and has completed her heartworm treatment. She will soon be spayed and have her teeth cleaned at the same time. If you cannot adopt at this time but would be interested in being a sponsor for Chica to help with her heartworm treatment, please contact us regarding donations. We have rescued several Pugs and Chugs that were heartworm positive this year. We would gladly accept donations of any size and greatly appreciate your generosity

No a Senior to me would be like 10 years or older. Pugs usually live to be about 12 - 14 years old.

I live in Missouri. But I am willing to drive a little to pick one up or pay for shipping if it reasonable. I drove about 400 miles round trip to get our Sassy. I have been looking on net for some Pugs but I am not having much luck. There have been three that I was really interested in and they are all now adopted.

Me & my wife are considering adoption of a Pug, as buying a Puppy is very expensive, and the idea of BackYard Breeders kinda irks me...

however I was curious if there were any adult pugs available for sale/or adoption on this Messageboard, and what price range would I be looking at?

If someone needs one to be taken off their hands, before they turn it over to a shelter?

Need not be a "Champion" bloodlineage, only for a pet and company at home, and share the apartment space with a shih tzu... not breeding purposes etc..

Let us know.

Thanks.

P.S. I also submitted applications to several Pug rescues in Ontario,..any help/suggestions welcome & needed.

Thsi little guy is avaliable if you are willing to take on a special needs dog... he's so cute

Bentley
Dog
Pug

Size: Small
Age: Young
Sex: Male
I.D:

Notes:

Bentley is a one and a half year old neutered male pug. He has a medical condition called 'dry eye' in both eyes and needs cream put into both his eyes everyday. The cream is about 50.00 per month and is a must do situation. His previous owner did not use the cream and Bentley's eyes closed shut and he almost lost his vision. If it weren't for his kind rescuer, he may have become blind.
Bentley is semi-housetrained, loves to play and go for walks and likes other dogs.
He would be best suited to a home with no children as he has been known to play rough.
Bentley is a delightful little fellow but needs a SPECIAL devoted home who will attend to his eyes everyday and work on his housetraining.
If you are interested in dear Bentley e-mail lhh4dogs@rogers.com or fill out the adoption application at www.speakingofdogs.com
