Brown spots under scabs? sort of follow up

So as sort of a follow up on the scabbing issue we've been having (suspected reaction, possibly to fleas) on the hind legs of our kitty....

I think the corticosteroid shot may have helped because her right hind leg doesn't have any more scabs on it HOWEVER in their place there are light brown spots, slightly raised.

Has anyone seen that before? Will they go away? Are they ominous?

Could they be just scars? If you are really concerned, maybe your vet could take a look and make sure everything healed okay?

They don't look like scars to me... they're light to medium brown, near the crevice of her leg where the scabs were. I'm still all sorts of worried about cancer, so of course that's what I'm focused on. If it were cancer, would the steroids have helped the scabs?

I really don't know. I've never seen cancer causing lots of scabs though. Do the spots feel hard, or just like skin? Maybe you could get some pictures and post them and someone might have an idea of what they could be. I know I get worried about every little thing that happens to my pets too!

Can't say that I've seen that on Fagan before... I know his scabs turn a lighter brown before they fall off... Maybe just has something to do with how her skin heals.

They actually still feel a bit scabby now that I really look at them. I can only catch glimpses when she is lounging on her side or back as she is a bit fed up with me fussing with her. Anyway, they are still a bit scabby... just not that traditional red color you usually see, I guess.

What do Fagan's look like after the scabs do fall off? Just light pink like people's skin does?

sometimes a little red too, if he's just cleaned the area. he's going at his boobie right now... I'll try and get a pic to show ya, he has to get another depo shot on monday. scabs are usually red when there is crusted blood, the scabs will be a browner colour when it is pussy or that platelet clear stuff that comes out after you pick off a scab. I'm sure its the same for kitties. Right now I'd love Fagans to be brown, it would mean he's leavin the poor boobie alone.

I just tried to get a picture... and I noticed that Fagan's scabs are indeed brownish today!!! Woo! And one has fallen off and the area is a bit pink. So hope that makes ya feel better....I know I do, one more shot and we may have it licked again for a while!!:D (the shots only work until he gets irritated by something again... only downside, it's next to impossible to keep every possible allergen away form him at all times, I do my best though.:o )

Also, you can talk to your vet, mine suggested holistic remedies to go along with the shots and they really seem to help him. I use a mixture of water and three remedies called Complex SK(half dropper), Hypericum (full dropper) and PBUR (half dropper), made by Thompson's Holistic Supply Inc. I think only vets carry them, and there is also Traumeel drops (a healing aid-you can get it at holistic/health stores), which also work well on human injuries BTW (I have a bad back and although it gives me a bit of the runs, it works wonders on my back). I mix his in a small glass jar, 2 droppers of remedy (as above), and about 2-3 tbsp. of water (has to be filtered) with about 10 drops of traumeel and give him a syringe full 1-2x a day when it's bad and a syringe full about every 3rd day when he's not biting or licking.

It really seems to help him but I know not all vets are open to holistic remedies. Yours might be though. :)
