Rottweiler with nasal infection

Hi all,
I'm wondering if anyone can shed some light on a health problem with my 9 year old male Rottweiler. He was diagnosed with a nasal infection 2 weeks ago and put on antibiotics which we gave him for a week. His original symptoms were mucous discharge from his nose, greenish in colour and sneezing alot. He did not respond to the medication so we took him back to the vet and they prescribed a stronger, higher dose of antibiotics. We also noticed small lesions on his belly a day before the second vet appointment. The vet said this medication would target both the nasal problem and the skin lesions.

It has now been one week on the stronger antibiotics and we are not seeing results to this point. He does not appear to be getting worse but certainly not getting better either. He is also very lethargic. He is eating fine and drinking plenty of water. Has anyone had similar experiences? Should we be looking an alternate diagnosis? Any advice is very appreciated as we are very worried about our boy.

If he does not respond to meds in the next 24-48 hours we are going to seek a second opinion but I'm looking for any similar experiences.
Thank You!

Honestly, I would definetly get that second opinion, no if ands or buts......Antibiotics are not the cure for everything, and if it has not cleared, there is something else underlying in the problem.

Welcome to the board, Atilla!

I agree with Rottielover. If the antibiotics haven't started working by now, it's definitely time to get a second opinion. :fingerscr I hope everything turns out well.

Please keep us posted on your boy.

Thank you Hazelrunpack and Rottielover, I appreciate your replies. I think you are correct, we need to take him back and see if we can't get to the bottom of this. I wanted to give the antibiotics a chance to work and I wasn't sure if a week on the stronger ones was actually long enough. We will be seeing another veteranarian soon and I will certainly let you know how it goes.
