so we took Blazie Baby to the vet and discovered he had an ear infection because of food allergies. We have already switched him to an almost corn free food. He eats Premium Edge large breed Puppy food. Any Rottweiler owners out there notice a common food allergen? Any other advice?
Symptoms include:
-Ear infection
-itchy skin
-paw chewing
-diarrhea

He could have an allergy to something else besides corn. You will probably have to find a new protein that he hasn't been exposed to before (duck, venison, fish, etc.) And if he does have a problem with corn, you'll want to avoid it entirely, there is still corn gluten meal in the premium edge food.

The corn gluten meal would keep it out of my house.

Can you provide info on what he was eating that caused the ear problems? Then perhaps we can provide some better advice.

people here often try an elimination diet
go to a food source with one protein that they havent had before
wellness simple solutions are easy place to start, my dogs can get some food sensitivities and innova evo has worked for them
make sure that you eliminate treats or keep them the same as whats in your food

My rottie recently developed food allergies and the number one culprit is corn. Rotties have super sensitive digestive tracts so unfortunately she may have a bunch of allergies. Mine also got a skin reaction in her ear that was red with some blister like bubbles. Went away in a few days.
Presently I am feeding her Orijen which has no grains in it and protein source is chicken and whitefish. So far so good.
