Chris B May 22nd, 2007, 11:21 AM Good morning, new to the forum here, my 2 1/2 year old cat Roxy who does go outside came in this morning and can't seem to jump. I cannot see any visible problems. She's walking fine, will purr, but I picked her up gently and she let out a soft cry. I had to go to work, left her on the bed on her fave. blanket. Any thoughts would be great, she is a bit daring and accident prone, has had sprains in the paw before, but she won't stay in the house for all the catnip in the world.
Thanks!
Chris B
Chris B May 22nd, 2007, 11:23 AM sorry I may have posted in the wrong forum, I will search out other sections, thanks.
Hunter's_owner May 22nd, 2007, 11:28 AM You did post it in the right place, just no one has had a chance to respond yet I guess;)
I think that you should have a vet take a look just to be sure there isn't something more going on than a sprain.
Chris B May 22nd, 2007, 12:36 PM Thanks Hunter's Owner, I spoke to my husband at lunch, apparently she was out scrapping with some sort of animal lastnight and he heard her jumping from the window ledge onto the deck and he got up and let her in. I will monitor her tonight as the vet will be closed when I get home and hubby will be gone to work, if she's the same tomorrow I'll book off early and get her in, thanks for responding, needed someone to talk to about it :)

Love4himies May 22nd, 2007, 01:29 PM Check for bites and tenderness. Bites can lead to serious infections very quickly and should be looked at by a vet.
happycats May 22nd, 2007, 01:45 PM If her belly is tender to the touch and she can't jump, she may have internal injuries, so you really should take her to a vet.
Chris B May 22nd, 2007, 02:08 PM Thanks everyone, I called the vet on lunch break and they do have an 800# I can take her in over the evening if she is still the same. Was hard for hubby to tell, as she sleeps all day normally, and he went to work exhausted for afternoon shift, because she kept him awake all night  . And I'm the one who wanted to rush her off to the vet on Thanksgiving Sunday for a limp and within a day she was fine. But, if she needs it, we're going!:thumbs up

Chris B May 22nd, 2007, 06:21 PM She got up when I got home, ate and drank but went to the litter box, dug a hole and nothing..........I wonder if she has a urinary problem. I missed the night vet  Hubby will HAVE to take her tomorrow if she stays the same, he loves them but is so tired from work and doesn't think we should run to the vet every time something happens. Being on opposite shifts is a drag when things like this happen, thanks for listening.

Prin May 22nd, 2007, 06:25 PM If she has a urinary tract blockage, she might not make it till morning.
Maya May 22nd, 2007, 06:42 PM She needs to see a vet right away. Is there not an emergency clinic? Prin is right, I would not take a chance by waiting.
Chris B May 23rd, 2007, 06:49 AM Good News, she is peeing, I took her outside lastnight and off she went to the little garden I was digging on the weekend. I also got to speak with the vet and hubby is bringing her in this morning. She is eating, drinking, peeing and purring, and does have a small wound on her belly so we're getting it checked out today. Thanks everyone!

Chris B May 23rd, 2007, 08:30 PM Hubby took Roxy to the vet today and she's okay, just a bit of bruising and the wound is superficial. He said just to continue to keep an eye on her but she looks fine. We're always keeping an eye on her :) Thanks everyone for your caring.
