I have a question about my new dog, Blaze, the 12 year old rescue Dalmatian we’ve had for 2 weeks now. Before we picked her up she had a vet visit in which they needed to extract a broken and badly infected tooth and they did a complete check up on her with full blood panel and urine analysis. Her foster mom was concerned because she was drinking a lot of water and of course peeing a lot as well. The vet suspected it may be Cushings but when all lab results came back normal she then thought maybe the water increase was due to the bad tooth and that she recommended Blaze be re-checked in 2-3 weeks.
I have really been watching her water intake and honestly I don’t see it as excessive. To me she drinks average, on hotter days or days we go out for a walk and it is hot she does drink more but when comparing her water intake to Autumn I’d say they are close. Autumn because she’s still young and foolish and tends to still have “accidents” in the house goes potty more often because we take her out more often but the amount is not real large. Blaze on the other hand goes out ½ the amount Autumn does but her volume is larger.
I have a vet appointment booked for her this coming Saturday for a follow up with my vet. Should I take a urine sample in with me? Are there questions or tests I should be asking my vet when we go in?
