my mini daschund smells

Is it normal for mini daschund to stink????????
Mine smells like a wet dog all the time. I give her a bath and a few hours she begins to stink again.
She is 9 months old and we've had her for 4 weeks.
She is a choclate brown color and has short hair.

Some dogs have a more "doggy" odor than others...still, it could be a skin issue, or allergies...good to ask your vet. Are you sure the smell is coming from her skin, and not her ears? Ear infections can smell. Also, what are you feeding her?

I been buying her puppy chow but she also some times eats the cats food. the cat eats meow mix indoor formula. I think i will take her/or call the vets on Monday. thanks for your advice.

Yeah the vet can check her and rule out skin or ear infection. If they don't find anything wrong, you may want to try putting her on a higher quality diet, you can check out the food forum on this site for help with that. I hope your puppy smells better soon, for your sake if not hers! :)

Puppy Chow and Meow Mix are not very good foods. I would switch (slowly) to Canidae (Felidae for cats) www.canidae.com or Innova www.naturapet.com. Check out the Food Forum here for lots of good information and tips.

Dachshunds smell like hounds - no more or less. As noted I would check your pup's ears - and perhaps there is a problem with the food. Re the cat - is your pup "helping" to clean the cat litter - my guys were ever so helpful that way.
