Dog Constipation - Any advice?

Hi everyone. My rott, TANK, has become pretty constipated. I've already scheduled a vet appointment for him tomorrow, but i was wondering if anyone here could give me any tips, so he can have a little relief tonite.

I gave him some canned pumpkin this morning, but he threw that up. I tried googling Dog Constipation (http://www.colon-cleanse-constipation.com/dog-constipation.html), but i didn't find too many useful tips. This site mentions you can give him Grape-Nuts Flakes. Do you think that's true? safe? Would it help? Someone else mentioned to me that you can give him a prune or two, and that would also 'flush' him out pretty quickly. But I am hesitant too, because I don't want to hurt him in any way.

If anyone could give me any constipation relief tips, suggestions or advice, it would be really appreciated. It would help him be comfortable thru the nite. Thank you.

you can give your dog a large spoonful of parafin oil or vegetable oil, it lubricates the bowel and softens the faeces but often can take some hours to work. This will only help if it is simple constipation and not a blockage from a more serious reason so the vet is the correct next step.
When constipated, they often get hot and dry, keep plenty of fresh water on hand to drink and damp sponge his head and face and belly is soothing.

Did he just throw up the pumpkin or is he vomitting up his food as well? If so, it could be a blockage and I would get him to the vet asap. Good luck and keep us posted. :fingerscr :goodvibes:
