cat suddenly vomiting

My eight year old cat has never been sick before. Late last night he ate some tulip leaves from a plant that I had gotten as a gift. I didn't even realize tulips were toxic to cats until he started vomiting repeatedly and I started researching cat sites. He threw up quite a few times, at 15 to minute intervals for the next hour. He then went to sleep until early this morning, when he got sick again.
Do I need to take him to the vet immediately or is this something that he just needs to get out of his system? I couldn't find too much information regarding tulips online. Furthermore, I am worried because of all the cat poisoning happening with the recalled foods. My cat food is not on the list and my other cat has not shown any signs of sickness. Please let me know your thoughts so I have a better idea of what to do. Thank you.

Ditto, vet ASAP....TODAY!! Sudden onset of vomitting can be a whole lot of things, but seeing as he ate the tulip just before you could definitely be dealing with a poisening. The vets will know what to do. Call them first, but make sure they know it is an emergency and that you need him seen today!

Good luck, hope the little guy is ok.

I'd take him to the vet right away. His liver will be working hard to clear the toxin but it may not be enough. Don't delay, it could (COULD) be life-threatening.

If you still haven't gone to the vet yet, I recommend that you go IMMEDIATELY! If you have already gone please provide us with an update...we're worried too.
