We're just lucky enough to live in the countryside... and yes, we have to look carefully because we never know what we will find.
These little guys are barely 6 weeks, they could have been killed by a car, a van, a coyote, whatever.
We took them to the vet this afternoon, they got their first shots, they were dewormed, treated with Revolution and they are going into foster care next Monday, after I've watched them to make sure everything is ok.
technodoll June 22nd, 2006, 07:48 PM that is just amazing... how long did it take you to find a foster home for these little sweethearts?

Husky X Shepherd. They're actually tiny, the odd-eyed girl only weighs 4.5 pounds.

I e-mailed him. The pups are going into foster care until they are at least 8 weeks to complete their intra-species education. They won't be ready to leave for another 2 weeks. I'll arrange a visit for him. Thanks Lewis ! :thumbs up
lewisw June 23rd, 2006, 10:04 PM I'm trying to convince my wife to adopt the odd eyed girl as a companion for Dani as my wife thinks she is adorable.

lewisw July 1st, 2006, 10:42 AM I'm not sure I think only Inverness could asnwer that question .

Mahealani770 July 3rd, 2006, 07:52 AM Awww  What happened to the pup, Inverness?:(
Kayla1984 July 3rd, 2006, 05:32 PM thats horrible! :(
do they all have homes yet? are there any little females!? we are a 1 dog home (fixed) but he'd need a female companion ..
Inverness July 3rd, 2006, 10:30 PM I'm sorry to say the little black and tan girl had very serious behavioural issues and was shaken too hard by an adult dog while she refused to settle down and submit. She suffered broken vertebrae and died. The adult dog in question is a superb teacher for puppies, a dog we trust with all and any other dog or pup, and this has happened for a reason. We had noticed the little girl had a strange tendancy to bark endlessly in the other dogs' face, trying to bite them, all this, at only 7 weeks of age. She had already been removed from the rest of the litter because she was terrorizing her brother and sister, leaving bite marks on their face and legs, refusing them access to food and water, etc. Although a very sad ending, it shows what the first weeks of life can mean in a dog's temperament. We had managed to find where the puppies came from - mommy is a poor soul tied in a backyard, who gets kicked by her owner if she barks. She's a skinny little thing who probably didn't have enough milk to feed her puppies, hence their attitude towards food. Obviously, her anxiety tainted the puppies personnalities, and especially that of the black and tan little baby whose name was Fleur.
The two other pups have undergone major behavioural assessment and although still with us, will be placed in very experienced families who will have a lot of work to do so they become well-balanced adults.
Prin July 3rd, 2006, 11:03 PM It's sad, but I have to say, I met a woman who adopted a similar pup from the SPCA- 8 weeks old and trying to dominate my Jemma (BAAAAD idea). When I corrected him, he tried to bite me- not at all playfully and then kept going after Jemma. Regardless of Jemma's growling and snapping, he just kept going. I'd never seen a puppy like that and I was surprised it passed any behavior tests (if they even give any). I told the woman to be careful because a dog that aggressive and dominant at 8 weeks could be very hard and dangerous to train in the future.
Good luck to the other pups. I hope they turn out ok.
mummummum July 3rd, 2006, 11:10 PM And will anything happen to the person who dumped these wee babies ?
Inverness July 3rd, 2006, 11:41 PM And will anything happen to the person who dumped these wee babies ?
Actually, the pups probably wandered out of the backyard, probably looking for food, and the owner never noticed. Didn't care either.
jesse's mommy July 4th, 2006, 04:38 AM What about the momma? Has she been removed from the owner?
mastifflover July 4th, 2006, 08:25 AM Tha t is sad but I think it probably was meant to be. I am glad you found them when you did. I am sure in the right homes they will be fine and the fact that they have a dog that will teach them all they need is great. You rock for saving these cuties.
Frenchy July 4th, 2006, 11:49 AM Same question as Jesse's mommy;what about the momma, does she really has to stay there, chain in the backyard and kick at once in a while, couldn't you make a complaint?Could we send someone to kidnap her?
Inverness July 4th, 2006, 12:47 PM Can't do anything about the mommy. The AC in that area is a famous puppy mill operator and believe me, they DON'T care about a dog tied out in a backyard.
cpietra16 July 4th, 2006, 03:51 PM Can you steal her in the night....feed her some sedatives to calm her down and get her out of that hell??? The mom, I mean. I hate t say this , but sometimes I have submitted myself to their rules to get the job done...:o

No I won't do that. If I get caught, then I'll be of no use to all the other animals that need my help. :sorry:
Mahealani770 July 5th, 2006, 06:35 AM Wow,
Very sad story:sad: . Inverness, I admire all you have done for the pups and I'll pray that the mommy can one day be rescued from her hellish abused life.:fingerscr
Kayla1984 July 17th, 2006, 05:57 PM what happened to the rest of the puppies
