Lily's Ongoing Saga

Hi everyone...it's been awhile again. Lily who is now 6 mos. (black standard poodle) has not improved tremendously in her health. She is still occasionally regurgitating her food (every 2 weeks or so), and new symptoms have since developed. The vet has finally decided that this is not 'normal'...in his defence he honestly thought this was a bile problem and for awhile it did look like that was the problem. Now though, based on her symptoms, he thinks that she likely has Addison's. On Monday, he's going to begin testing for it and anything else should it turn out that it is not Addison's. He also recommended taking her off the Innova (puppy formula) because it is considered to be a rich food with multiple protein sources. He'd like to see her on a much simpler diet with only one protein source. I know on this board there are several 'food experts' and was hoping to get some suggestions...I can get several good foods in our area - Wellness, DVP's Natural Balance, Solid Gold, etc. The vet also said that she can be safely moved to an adult formula should the food not be available in a puppy formulation. Currently she is back on the boiled chicken and rice...so when it's time to wean her over to her kibble I can do so with the new food. Thanks everyone!

I am a wellness fan, my dog did great on it, but what I would reccomend is Their line called "Simple Food Solutions". It uses one meat protein and one crbohydrate, and only has 5 "main ingredients". http://www.oldmotherhubbard.com/dogs/simple_food_overview.html

I'd do the DVP allergy formulas first. I like them better than the simple solutions. (like the duck and potato, or sweet potato and fish)

Good luck!:)

I agree. I've heard lots of people have good success with both DVP sweet potato and fish or DVP duck and potato.:pawprint:
