Hi there, well wouldn't you know it is 12:30 at night and my small terrier cross, age 4.5 yrs) is having some issues with her butt area. She (Fly) has been licking her bottom for the last hour accompanied by some panting. She will still drinkwater and will take a dog treat so she is not in alot of pain. I have done a pet-forum search about anal gland issues. This sounds like ti may be the thing however my husband and I have tried to get a good look there- but she is very fussy and won't stay still long enought for us to do a thorough check. I have tried to apply a warm cloth but she wants none of that.

I guess we will be off to the vet tomorrow-

Question? Does this sound like an 'emergency situation" or one that can wait until tomorrow late afternoon - after I get home fromwork for a vet visit- I am a teacher and it is hard to miss this time of year. Still, I don't want to leave it if his osudns like it needs immediate attention...

What do you think?

I am going to give her some rescue remedy and see if she is able to settle down for the night. Thanks to all who read and comment!

Well, I guess I'm too late... I don't think it's an emergency but the longer you wait with issues like these, the worse they get and the harder they are to treat.

While you were at the vet, did he mention anything about allergies or did he think this was a one time thing or occasional thing?

Guess I'm a little late too. Sounds like anal glands to me as well......not an emergency thing, but do make sure he goes when you get home tomorrow.

What did the vet say? Is everything ok?
