Weight Loss, Drooling in Older Cat

Hello. My older cat is approximately 13 years of age. Lately he has lost weight, doesn't keep himself clean, and is drooling. His temperament is still the same, loves to "talk" to me, have tummy rubbed, etc. Any ideas as to what could be wrong with him? Thank you

Has he been to the vet? That would be my first stop.

Could be a dental problem( infected/loose/rotten tooth) or inflamed gums( gingivitis, etc)

Agree with justncase. Dental problems will definitely cause the symptoms you are seeing.

Vet asap, since the cat is probably in a lot of pain and untreated tooth decay can cause kidney failure.
