BMDLuver July 11th, 2005, 03:40 PM Update: Daphne has now been seen by the vet. Her eye condition is much graver than originally thought. She may be losing site in both her eyes and could be blind already in the one eye. She will be mildly sedated on Friday so that a better assessment can be done.
Hi, our names are Daphne and Delila, Daph n Lila for short. We are puppy mill breeders by the looks of things. Daphne has cherry eye that has been sadly neglected and Delila has very long nipples indicating a litter not too long ago. They were believed to have been dumped at the side of the road. They are being seen by a vet this evening for a preliminary checkup. They will be bathed and groomed before leaving the facility so that they are smelling somewhat fresher and feeling more comfortable. They will be available for adoption but for the time being, need a foster home. They are super friendly and very good natured. They just need to blow off some steam. If interested in adopting or fostering, please contact teddyscaninerailroad@hotmail.com . Both young ladies will be vaccinated, altered and health issues dealt with as soon as possible. They will also need to gain some weight which we will be working on immediately. Once they are spiffed up and releases we will take some new photos to show off just how beautiful they both are.

Yes, have done already, thanks. :)

They will be released as of tonight 6pm I believe. We are trying to juggle fosters around to make sure they are safe. They have scheduled baths and grooming for tomorrow as their undersides and hind legs are filthy.
BMDLuver July 12th, 2005, 08:08 AM Daphne now has a fantastic foster home with large breed experience and knowledge of her eye issues. She will hopefully be moving there this weekend once she has a further diagnosis from the vet. :thumbs up
twinmommy July 12th, 2005, 11:51 AM awww that's good news!! What beautiful girls!!
BMDLuver July 12th, 2005, 08:00 PM Daphne and Delila will both have foster homes. I brought them home today. They are both much better now that they have had baths and a good grooming. Unfortunately Daphne had to be shaved as she had too many infected sores to treat otherwise. Both were covered in fleas and look like they have multiple bite marks from other dogs. They will see a vet on Saturday to get a full run down on everything they will need. Below are some pics. First two are of Daphne after her clipping and an attempt to show her eyes in the second one. The last is Delila who is much less a mess than Daphne. It would be great to find the creep who runs this byb as the dogs are terribly neglected and show the signs of sitting in their own feces and urine for longterm.
badger July 12th, 2005, 08:16 PM Wow, you can see how thin she is, poor baby. I hope they will be able to save her other eye. They're in clover now, thanks to you, only good times ahead! How did you come to rescue them?

I hope so too. They are both terribly filmy and black. The pound contacted me as soon as they came in as they knew that they would not be adoptable and that there was a danger of euthanasia due to health issues. I'm hoping long and happy lives for them both. They have more than earned it in their short lives.
Bearsmom July 14th, 2005, 11:12 AM What gorgeous dogs...I hope you find a good home for them, they're just too sweet!
Luba July 14th, 2005, 11:33 AM Oh can you imagine how happy their little hearts are and bodies for getting some love now and attention...for having someone care for them.
THANK YOU :grouphug:
and again THANK YOU!!!!! :grouphug:
BMDLuver July 14th, 2005, 11:49 AM Thanks Ladies. Haven't a brutal day so that really helps. :)
Lucky Rescue July 14th, 2005, 01:49 PM OMG. Those poor girls.
If anyone needs a convincing arguement why not to buy from backyard breeders or puppy mills, please take a look at these babies. Where is the person who bred them? Why, very happy with a pocketful of cash I'm sure and couldn't care less what happens to his "products."
I'm sure you'll find them loving homes. Thank you!!!!

They are the second pair of xlarge breed females dumped in the same spot. There's a mill in tres st redempteur or st.clet that seems to be dumping them. I wish like crazy I could find this person.
Lucky Rescue July 14th, 2005, 02:00 PM According to what I hear, the mill in St.Clet is being run by some very unsavory people.:(

If you know the location, could you pm it to me? I have someone who would like to pay them an official visit.
Luba July 14th, 2005, 02:16 PM Ya until they relocate after they've been found...jerkoffs always do that.
One guy here has done it atleast `10 times. Even uses his house and warehoues, rents storage spaces, they go to all extremes.
LL1 August 8th, 2005, 08:46 PM How are the girls?
BMDLuver August 9th, 2005, 07:02 AM Thanks for asking LL1.
Delila is doing very well. She is now clean in the house. It took her a while to understand that hard material under her feet did not mean pee. She had all her stitches removed yesterday and is on an anti inflammatory as she developed some fluid build up due to an allergic reaction to the dissolvable stitches. If it does not reduce in two weeks, they will drain it for her. She's a real sweetie and gaining weight slowly. She has a big fear of gravel, so when someone walks on it, she cowers but that seems to be her only fear.
Daphne has always been clean in the house. All her sores have healed up very well. She is no longer an itchy mess. Her eye surgeries went really well and other than the fact that she was shaved, it's now hard to tell them both apart. Daphne is now on cortisone ointment to help the balance of her eye ulcer dissipate. She's seeing more everyday and now goes charging around after birds and squirrels which she could not see before. She goes every 10 days for eye followups, has had all her stitches removed and suture areas are healed now. Daphne's fear seems to be work boots. The foster was clunking around the house two days ago and she was drooling profusely while he had them on. Once he removed them she started to relax.
I've no idea what went on with these two gals but for dogs that appear to have gone through so much, they are real sweethearts.
chico2 August 9th, 2005, 08:07 AM BMDlover,I am amazed and elated at the dedication all you rescuers and fosters have to these unfortunate dogs/cats,these two Saints must think they are in heaven with angels
I've said it sooo many times before, but every story I read about rescues like these, makes me almost burst with happiness....I know,it sounds corny but you guys are the best :thumbs up
Before I joined the Forum,I,like so many others, thought the only option for abandonned dogs/cats was HS and usually they were pts,I never knew there were sooo many true heroes out there...I just cannot say enough.
Thanks!!! :grouphug:
I was under the impression there was a new law passed in Quebec, clamping down on puppy-millers

Thanks Chico. If you look into their eyes as a rescuer, you are usually done in. I fell in love with Daphne n Delila's freckled noses and sad eyes. Everyone who meets them asks about them and wants to know their story. They are ambassadors for what is wrong with Quebec concerning animals.
This particuliar mill seems untouchable however there are those gathering information. Connected does not always mean protected if you get my drift. They have been visited and eventually what goes around will come around. :thumbs up
SpanielLuver August 9th, 2005, 02:04 PM I see Daphne at least 3 - 4 times a week as she is in her foster home that also fosters for me and is quite close to my house so I drop by there often after work. You cannot believe the difference in her eyes. These girls are two of the sweetest most affectionate dogs you could ever want to meet. The foster mom was helping me at the Hudson Street Fair and went home to get Daphne to bring her down for a visit. They took so long I thought they'd walked to Toronto, lol. Everyone was stopping them and hugging Daphne and wanted to know all about her. All the neighbours know her as she visits them or they drop by to see how she is doing. Its hard to believe that these two girls can be so loving and so giving after what they must have been through, but when you see them now and how loved they are by everyone its amazing. Daphne's foster dad is so in love with her as are the kids, I don't know how they are going give her up when the time comes, and I don't think they know either. Betting that she stays there, lol. They both deserve truly fabulous homes.
Prin August 9th, 2005, 02:38 PM Poor Doggies!!! BMDluver, you're their guardian angel. :) :grouphug:
Lucky Rescue August 9th, 2005, 10:28 PM OH some much needed good news!! So glad to hear these poor girls are finally getting a chance.
Thanks so much to all had a part in saving them. :thumbs up
When do we get to see an "after" photo?
Toonces August 10th, 2005, 02:27 AM BMD they are gorgeous! Thankyou so much for saving them and showing them life is not so bad.
BMDLuver August 10th, 2005, 07:38 AM When do we get to see an "after" photo?
I have to take some photos of the girls in the next few days. I'll post a few once I have them. When you try to take their photos they come over to you immediately for an ear rub. Makes getting them a bit of a challenge. Need someone like RickC to do photos for us. His are so fantastic.
Dudster August 10th, 2005, 03:27 PM BMDLuver you are truly an Angel to the Saints!!!
Hopefully, in another life, dogs will rule the world and those who did them wrong will pay the price.
I am a lover of big boys and if I didn't have two already, I would consider one of the girls. Hopefully a loving family will be found for them soon.
Dudley and Murphy
BMDLuver August 11th, 2005, 08:22 AM Thanks all.
I'm hoping that someone comes along soon for them as well. They are very bonded to their foster families and because they've been to the vet's with me so often, myself as well. I think there will be a lot of tears from all who have been involved with them when they do finally find their forever homes.
