I have been to the site a lot of times and looked there before getting my Dogue from the breeder I got her from.
From what I have seen the majority of them are adults and have not had a great start in life. Most of them are in the US as well.
I would not say that you should NOT get one from the society but do your research as I don`t know how difficult it would be to get them here and what costs are involved. Most rescues would want to interview you and do a home check before placing one of their dogs and from my personal experience, most mastiffs are best placed in homes where the owners have experience with dogs.
Dogues can be stubborn and pig headed and it takes a lot of time and patience to have them well adjusted.
Our male, C`Zarr, is still learning some of the basics and he is now almost 2 years old and 160 lbs. He did not have a lot of human contact or training when he got here so it has been a challenge.
Do some homework with the policies for placement with DDBS as I know there are a lot of Dogues there that truly deserve a loving home.
