High Blood Pressure in Cats – Feline Hypertension – Pet tip 238
Although any cat can suffer from high blood pressure (hypertension) it is most commonly seen in middle aged or senior cats. In case we have forgotten what blood pressure means, blood pressure refers to the force (pressure) of circulating blood against the walls of blood vessels; the higher the force, the greater the amount of stress that’s put on the heart to move the blood. This can cause the heart muscles to enlarge, get thicker, and weaken thereby reducing life expectancy. It’s one of the vital signs used to measure the overall health of many animals including humans.

My name is Kaci and I am a very opinionated cat. I talk alot and am not afraid to let my owner know when I am not pleased with something. On the other hand, I am also a very affectionate and loveable cat. I enjoy sleeping on laps and will occasionally sleep on the bed. I don't enjoy being disturbed while I sleep so I frequently seek out comfortable corners where no one can find me...I think it worries my owner a bit when I "disappear" but I enjoy the peace and quiet. I absolutely love the heat and sometimes get a little too close to the heaters and candles (I've had a few singed whiskers!). I don't like being ignored and usually lick people to get them to pay attention to me. I have also been known to jump right up on people if they're really trying to ignore me...like I said, I have a strong personality. I do enjoy hunting as well, and will bring home mice and birds - my owner seems to really appreciate it :)
