Although any cat can suffer from high blood pressure (hypertension) it is most commonly seen in middle aged or senior cats. In case we have forgotten what blood pressure means, blood pressure refers to the force (pressure) of circulating blood against the walls of blood vessels; the higher the force, the greater the amount of stress that’s put on the heart to move the blood. This can cause the heart muscles to enlarge, get thicker, and weaken thereby reducing life expectancy. It’s one of the vital signs used to measure the overall health of many animals including humans.

I love to sit in my people's laps and be held. I am very little and cute and soft and cuddly. My second favorite place to be is in the front yard, in a sunny spot under the bougainvillea. I have a very loud, distinctive meow that I use when my people are not giving me enough attention. That makes them pet me! I love it when I get treats: stuff like chicken, tuna, and salmon. I'm a little spoiled that way! I was very embarrassed when I snatched a piece of bell pepper from my person's plate and it became impaled on the two little fangs that poke out of my mouth. Next time I'm sticking to my own bowl!
