Every night when my head hit the pillow, he was there to lie across my arm. I would fall asleep with my face buried in his belly as his purr lulled me to sleep. I couldn't sleep without him.
That day, the stomach cancer was so painful he cried. I had held out in the unrealistic hope that I could kill the demon inside him.
The vet helped bring him peace and take away his pain. My beloved “Bed Pillow”, Mikey, drifted off to sleep and then the injection that would prevent me from ever seeing him again--remembered always.
