Pet Tip
You JUST got a new dog – Don’t freak out – Pet tip 255
Today’s domestic dog is still closely related to the wolf. Like all wolves living in a pack, dogs must be part of a stable family and feel safe. Most domestic behavioral problems occur when the dog is confused about how to act/behave in different situations such as your home or out on a walk.
It is recommended that you keep Fido confined no matter his age for at least the first month in your home. This will allow him to settle in more comfortably and adapt to your lifestyle. At the same time, confinement will reduce such misbehaviors as chewing and separation anxiety.
Here are a few general rules to help you to prevent misbehaviors when you bring Fido home:

I am a very loving, sensitive dog, who loves to mess up my dad's bed. I especially enjoy pawing at his comforter and ripping it to shreds. (He hassles me about it, but I don't mind.)
I used to be a shoe-chewer when I was young, but now I just like to leave love packages in the yard for my dad to deal with. (When he's not looking, I smile!)
I demand that I get appropriate and respectful leftovers mixed with my din-din. I also expect massages for my sore body on a daily basis.
I refuse to have a bath and require that my dad, Kenny, takes me in the shower personally with a special, sensitive-skin shampoo.
When we go for a walk, I must be able to confront and frighten the birds, especially ducks and swans, as well as the squirrels. I demand respect from other dogs, especially puppies and those little cats that bark.
I miss my cat Pepper, who died of old age when I was young. At his grave in my old backyard was the only place I would never dig or poo on.
