After we moved into a new apartment, it became clear that our year-old tortie Nibbler (http://www.pets.ca/petsites/viewpet.php?petid=2787) needed some company, and since Rick had always wanted a DSH grey tabby, we started scouring the Humane Society and animal shelter websites to find one. The same week Kerry's grandmother sent her $100 as a moving-in present, we found "Ernie" on the Toronto Animal Services website: a dopey-looking stray baby tabby. There was some kerfuffle when we went to go see him, as he was sick and they didn't want to let us into the sick room, but Rick was so sure Ernie was the right cat for him that we insisted, fell in love and took him home that day! We renamed him Turd Ferguson (after SNL's Celebrity Jeopardy), and added "O'Malley" because it suits his fightin' Irish nature, but he's quickly become "Turdlet" to one and all. It's taken a month for he and big sister Nibbley to start liking each other, but when you see them curled up and licking each other, it's worth all the cat-fights in the world!
