High Blood Pressure in Cats – Feline Hypertension – Pet tip 238
Although any cat can suffer from high blood pressure (hypertension) it is most commonly seen in middle aged or senior cats. In case we have forgotten what blood pressure means, blood pressure refers to the force (pressure) of circulating blood against the walls of blood vessels; the higher the force, the greater the amount of stress that’s put on the heart to move the blood. This can cause the heart muscles to enlarge, get thicker, and weaken thereby reducing life expectancy. It’s one of the vital signs used to measure the overall health of many animals including humans.

Bennie & Joon are brother & sister. They are named after the brother & sister characters in the movie Bennie & Joon. They are the older two of a group of four (see Phineas & Gussie.)
Bennie: a.k.a. Boonie, Ben, Benjamin, Booboo
Was the first long-haired cat I got to know. I love brushing him, and he seems to enjoy it but he moves slowly away from me as I brush him so I end up slowly scooching along the floor after him.
Has a lair underneath the bed where he lies in a hammock created by a sheepskin stapled to the bed frame. He was very depressed after his dog, Ceilidh, passed away and would spend a lot of time in his hammock alone mourning.
Joon: a.k.a. Joonie Louise, Juniper
Loves to sit on your lap to be petted, for hours. She'll purr the entire time and a bead of spit will form on her chin.
Enjoys helping with paperwork by lying on it, helping with the computer by lying on the keyboard. She's very insistent and if you want to actually get something done she needs to be invited into the other room and the door closed.
