Kitten Development Stages – Pet Tip 249
When we bring a kitten home for the first time to adopt it as a pet, it should be between nine and twelve weeks old. This is so the kitten has a chance to spend time with its mother and so that the kitten becomes socialized with its littermates and learns proper kitten behaviour. But what happens before the kitten comes home? This article will outline some of the important milestones in kittenhood in an effort to familiarize you with some of the stages of kitten development.
Kittens are born blind and deaf and they remain that way for around the first fourteen days of their lives. They use their sense of smell to find their way toward their mothers for nourishment and heat. They really need to stay close to their mothers for these first few weeks as they are unable to regulate their own body temperature. The umbilical cord typically falls off after the first few days of life.

In Thailand the Korat is seen as being a good luck cat, because it has the colour of rainclouds, silver sheen as money, and eyes the colour of newly sprung rice - everything points towards wealth. This is the cat with five hearts, three of which are on the head. Looking at the Korat straight-on, you see the Valentine-shaped heart of the head, which can be gently traced around the head. The second heart is found by looking down over the top of the Korat's head, and the third heart is the nose. The other two hearts, which are not part of the head, are the muscular area of the chest when the cat is sitting, and the most-commonly-forgotten one, the heart inside the cat! In an old poem it is said that the Korat has body colour as the seeds of the sawat fruit, the fur is smooth with roots like clouds and tips like silver. The eyes shine like dewdrops on a lotus leaf. Things can't be described more poetically!"
Maverick is a lively and extroverted cat who demands close contact with us. He has a great degree of self-confidence and expects us to adapt our habits to his needs and ideas... Maverick follows us in EVERYTHING that we do - a cat that sleeps with us and thoroughly enjoys a good bubble bath! He loves and has a special sense of being around people - and enjoys participating in all chores. He loves to play - either with itself or a toy - but the best games are played in company with humans.
