Murphy was the most wonderful dog I have ever known. She was a very gentle soul, and so intelligent. We took her for basic obedience lessons only, and (bad parents!) never really practiced them with her at home. But we treated her and spoke to her as if she was a member of our family. As a result, we understood each other in a way that no "training" could ever accomplish. She was an ambasador of dogs everywhere, teaching children how to handle dogs with love and respect, and converting non-dog lovers or curing people with a fear of dogs. Not a day goes by that we don't think of her. She is missed by everyone she has ever met.
