Today’s domestic dog is still closely related to the wolf. Like all wolves living in a pack, dogs must be part of a stable family and feel safe. Most domestic behavioral problems occur when the dog is confused about how to act/behave in different situations such as your home or out on a walk.
It is recommended that you keep Fido confined no matter his age for at least the first month in your home. This will allow him to settle in more comfortably and adapt to your lifestyle. At the same time, confinement will reduce such misbehaviors as chewing and separation anxiety.

I am a darling young pure bred yellow lab, who loves to get all the attention I can get. I am also a real mamma's boy, and most times I could care less when daddy comes home from work. I love the outdoors but am really afraid of water. My favorite things to do are play frisbee and cuddle up next to my toy bunny for a nap. I am very energetic, and love going on walks when the days are cool enough, and weather permitting (which isn't very often, living close to the ocean). My most embarrasing moment would be my first bath. After I got out and was dried off by mommy, I went to go down stairs and slipped on the hard wood steps. I was always careful after that one. My most cherished memory was meeting my new parents. I couldn't be any happier here. They spoil me with all sorts of treats and I get a new toy, every month, as long as I have been good, which I am most of the time. I still need to learn how not to jump on mommy, and hit her in the tummy, because I am going to get a sister around Christmas, and I don't want to hurt her, before I get a chance to meet her, and help mommy and daddy take care of her.
