Sammy was adopted from the SPCA at the age of two. His previous owners hadn't trained him and hadn't treated him very well. He had a lot of behaviour issues, but with a lot of TLC and patience, he learned to trust his new family and became a loving and loyal companion. As he got older, Sammy's hearing and eyesight failed and he suffered painful arthritis which was eased for a time with medication. There comes a time when a pet owner has to make a difficult decision. Sammy had started to become incontinent and show signs of dementia. The arthritis caused him great difficulty even sitting or laying down. He needed to be carried a lot. It finally became apparent that his days were becoming more painful and his suffering too great. Sammy is survived by Heather, Rick, Cole and Carly, among other close friends and family. Sammy... you'll be missed a lot, you were a very special dog and a well-loved member of this household.
