I love the synchronized gaits in the the first pic of the "All the dogs" group. It's especially apparent in Tease and Flurry. Perfectly in synch!

Flurry and Tease are a good match. He's got the same big lope as her so they run well together. My friend has been trying to work Tease with other dogs to get her starting better. She likes to run well on the way home but sometimes doesn't start out very fast. She's got tons of speed, she just doesn't always turn it on at the beginning. They've done pretty well at the races even so, once Tease gets pulling hard the whole way she's going to be awesome

They both have those long legs! I can well imagine they can get up a full head of steam when Tease decides to put in an effort!

I just realized that what I said didn't come out right. Flurry has never raced with Tease. When I said "they've done well at the races..." I was talking about my friend racing with Tease. She's been entering the 1-dog skijoring with her. Flurry only raced once this year, in a 2-mile youth class with my daughter. I didn't want to push him too hard, too soon. This run we just did was the longest run any of mine have done so far, it was a real workout for them. 8 miles isn't such a long distance, but it was all hills. Up and down, up and down, up and down... and my team was pulling the extra weight of a passenger. Normally it's just me on the sled during training runs and I help them out by pedalling or running on the hills. We all got a workout yesterday. On a couple of the really big hills I made my daughter get out and walk too

Sounds like a good cardio workout!

Maybe you and your friend should consider racing Flurry and Tease together--they look very well matched!

I was also gonna suggest entering Tease & Flurry in a two dog race together

I don't think we could race them in a 2-dog class, the 2-dog classes are for novices only and I no longer qualify after racing in the 4-dog (pro) class this season. I don't know about my friend's eligibility for novice, she's competed in the skijoring classes though not the sledding ones. She might qualify, I'm not sure. Generally once you're racing for prize money you can't go back and race in the novice classes, but maybe since she hasn't done it on a sled she could However, she could take Flurry with Tease and enter the 2-dog skijoring instead of just Tease in the 1-dog skijoring. I can see them doing well with that That's if my daughter isn't already using Flurry in other classes. Some of the races have youth and/or novice classes but not all of them do, and some of the novice classes have age restrictions on them. If there's a 2-dog class that she's eligible to compete in she'll be running Flurry herself. If he's conditioned well enough though he may be able to do a 2-mile with my daughter plus a 4-mile with my friend. Lightning did that this year at one race, 4 miles leading my 4-dog team and then the 2-mile youth class with Flurry and my daughter.

Thanks for the link, I hadn't seen it. My name's spelled wrong and the website for Silhouette Racing Rescues was omitted, but other than that it sounds good. I'm still trying to see the full interview (where it has the link at the bottom of that page) but it seems to take me to a page with video clips and I'm on dial-up so it's way too slow.

I'm not sure if I'll be at the show. I'd love to go but I find long days spent traveling and wandering around at these type of events to be very tiring. I have a bad back and by the end of a day like that I get wiped right out. And of course, there's all the dogs to make arrangements for when I'm away the whole day. Luckily I have good neighbours who are willing to help out in that way.

I haven't been able to find the full written interview but you are interviewed briefly on camera in the videoclip #5 and there she does mention Silhouette Racing Rescues.

Ah, that's old then. She interviewed me on video last year at Cannington, just after I finished the 2-dog novice class. With that race being canceled due to poor weather this year I wasn't there and haven't done any other video interviews. The written interview is more recent, she said she wanted to interview the Jamaican team as well as a more local one that uses rescues for racing. I just re-read it and realized that a bunch of it was actually edited out. There's still a question in it asking about what competitions we were involved in this winter but that answer's not there, instead it addresses the topic of skijoring, which was part of the question above. Oh well, hopefully people don't find it too confusing and think it still makes for some interesting reading. Oh shoot, I also just noticed that there's no photo credit which I asked for. That wasn't my photo and I asked permission to have it used.
