Napoleon Syndrome
Well, Buster and I are starting to get out more for evening walks now that the weather has improved. Tonight we were doing great when a large dog and his owner came into view. I got Buster to sit as did the other owner. We were good ...... dogs went forward, sniffing, happy looking and then....Buster lunged and barked and barked and barked. I explained he wouldn't hurt anyone and the guy just said....ya, but he has "Napoleon Syndrome"
I know...small dog, big attitude .... I think we need to get back to basic training...

Yep, back to basics for you . Likely he will settle back into the routine soon. Until then when he starts to get like that I would body block him backwards into a sit position and then allow him to visit again if you can find a willing owner/dog.

I've read about a couple of techniques you might want to explore. http://www.cappdt.ca/public/jpage/1/...tem/content.do This one is the Two Reward System. It sounds from your post as if it might apply but you give a read and see what you think. http://controlunleashed.net/ This one is the author's website. Leslie McDevitt has written up several "games" as she calls them meant to help dogs with troubles such as yours. And other problems. I bought the book to help me work with my unfocused young Lab and I think it is a miracle. I'm very pleased with his response. See what you think. The reviews from folks who bought the book are impressive. |

The links Longblades posted are excellent, BusterBoo. Control Unleashed also has a complimentary DVD collection .
If you're ever thinking about classes again, there's an amazing center not too far from you I think... http://www.carolark.com/index.html I wish I lived closer, I'd love to attend those classes.

Thanks for the links...I will definitely check them out.
LP....the training centre is a good hour away from me....other side of Ottawa, but looks excellent. I will give them a call and see when the classes are and which ones my little devil should be registered in
