Why is.....
My furbaby (Dexter) has been having problems with his eyes every once and awhile. he'll start squinting and blinking really fast. he has quite a bit of hair. could his hair be getting in his eye? but how? the hair around his eyes is farily short..... this seems to happen at least once or twice every 1-2 months .... dose anybody have any ideas? could something be wrong with his eye?
hopefully nothing is wrong.... crazycatlover |

Is there any discharge from the eye?
Is just one affected or both? Does the nictitating membrane (the translucent inner eyelid) appear and cover part of the eye? What is Dexter doing right before this happens? Without seeing what is happening it's hard to say what is causing it. It's possible a loose hair or dust is getting in his eye, could be a cold virus etc. Have you mentioned this to your vet?

I asked if your cat went outside to see it could be an allergy causing his eyes to bother him. I like to try and rule out things . Going outside with your cat would not keep pollen from getting on him. . Gatekeeper could be onto something , there could be an foreign objectin his eye , is it red looking ?

One of the cats in Cat's Haven ( at my parent's place) used to have eye problems often so what we'd do is wash them with chamomille tea.
I recently saw chamomille listed as toxic so although I never had any problem with it during the many times I used it nor any side effects of it (and I've used it in different cats) I guess I must mention it. You could research what would do a good eye wash for your kitty cat. It really helps to control those mild irritations and keeps the eyes clean. I only did it when it was needed though and with time the frequency of the irritations went down a lot.

maybe it's just the occasional piece of dust that gets in?
