Lupi Dog harness

What are your thoughts on the Lupi dog harness?
I am considering getting one on Friday to replace the puppy step-in I have. It is getting too small for Ebony.
She pulls all the time, so I am hoping this is my answer to teaching her to heel and walk like a lady

I really don't see how that will stop the pulling. With my own dog, a harness that went around his chest/shoulders still enabled him to pull. Sure, a harness kept him from choking, which was great, but the pulling never really stopped until I used a head harness. Then, it was instant. He can't pull me with just his head.

The only harness that minimized pulling (for me & my dog) was the easy walk harness, but only because of the way it's fitted... it's like wearing a t-shirt that's too small for you - you can't lift your arms all the way up. this harness had the same principle, it was very tight across the shoulder area, so the dog couldn't take big steps, so he couldn't really gain any ground on you.

I'd also worry about the cord too, it doesn't seem like it would be too comfortable for the dog, especially for long walks.

I'll third that. it is amazing how it stops the pulling . absolutely incredible and thanks Prin for suggesting it in another thread, because otherwise i probably wouldn't have spent the 45$ on it, but now I think it is the best piece of equipment for dogs that I own.

The easy walk harness shouldn't be so tight it is restricting the dog's movement - if it does, you have it fitted wrong.

When the dog pulls, the harness is meant to turn him/her towards the owner, and stop the forward movement- same principle as the gentle leader and halti, but instead of turning just the head/neck, the entire body is curved in. What I like about it is, unlike many of the head halters, most dogs accept the harnesses without any stress or fuss. Some dogs never accept the head halters, and the harness makes a good alternative. I walk dogs for a living, and I tell you, my job would be a hundred times more difficult without the harness on my chronic pulling client. I can walk a lively 120 lb bernese year old puppy with absolutely no stress or strain on my shoulders at all.

I have used the lupi on a huge Bloodhound rescue I had. He broke 2 leather leads. I bought the lupi thinking this thing will never hold him back it will surely break. Did not break and within minutes of putting it on him he was like a dog who had been trained to walk on a lead. I was amazed. I think it is far better than those ones that go around the dogs muzzle. I have not tried the other one that was mentioned but I can vouch for this one.

I have found the Canine Safety Harness works best for my puller Eskimo. It is not a step in - washes easily - and he can't get out of it. Canadian product - www.caninefriendly.com - made by Canine Equipment. I buy mine from my dog's groomer but a few stores in Toronto carry the line. Size small fits dogs 15 - 25 lbs. Although we started age 2 specific issues training and now he has a choke chain, heaven help us.

Prin is right. The Newtrix harness is GREAT.

We sold it on our site for a while, but stopped only because shipping it wasn't that easy. But it's a great product.

Marko, are you shipping them from Montreal? Or via the store themselves? Because if say, some montrealer, ahem, wanted to buy one, and they were being shipped from montreal, would shipping be the same?

I tried the lupi harness for my last huskies and we didn't like it.

Marko, I need two headcollars. Can I buy the Newtrix ones and pay by cheque instead of by credit card?

the Lupi works. Period.
For those of you who can't get it to work or who say it bothers the dog must have it on wrong... or the wrong size Lupi. The simple figure 8 design slips easily on the dog and just hangs there loose until the dog pulls. Then it tightens up and by the dog's own force causes and upward lifting of the shoulders and stops forward momentum. I use it on my Aussie and it works great and she was a constant puller on a regular lead.
Again.. when she is walking without pulling, the Lupi hangs loose.. I don't see how it could possible irritate a dog.

I think lupi harness is one of the most comfortable too. I have frenchie and when I was choosing I found a good buyer's guide. I bought one that is quickly attached becaude for my dog it is realyy important. He won’t sit still even for a minute, and it is also good to be able to put the harness on in a rush. Harness has few attachment points and doesn’t have too many straps or holes for dog to have to climb into. Our harness is also very bright and easily noticed and highly visible because I often take my dog on walks in the evening or at night.
