Cat been peeing on floor, Kidney Disease?
Okay my 13ish year old cat Mittens peed on the floor today. Anyways, a white spot has been appearing on the floor for the past couple of days. So I think It's pee. And I know It's Kidney Disease symptoms. Now, why am I wasting time here? I can't afford to go to the vet till next payday! What should I do to help Mittens until payday??? x 10,000

Inappropriate urination can be a symptom of several things not just Kidney Disease.
The only way to tell for sure is a trip to the vet for a Urinalysis preferably by Cystocentesis so the vet can check for bacterial infection or crystals/stones as well as checking the urine specific gravity which is an indicator of kidney function loss. I would suggest since she is 13 that while you are there to have them run a full blood panel as well, this will check for abnormal values not only relating to the kidneys but will also check values associated with diabetes, pancreas issues, liver disease etc You can always call the vet and ask if they will allow a payment plan or if they will take a post-dated cheque. Can you borrow from family/friends until payday?

Well payday is on Wednesday and she hasn't peed on the floor since, now that we've picked her up to put her on the shelf where her litterbox is. A car ran over her shoulder when she was young and so she can't really climb as well.

You could also try adding another lower sided litter box in a spot that may be easier for her to access ie on the floor itself not a place she needs to climb up. It's possible her hips could be bothering her as she may be over compensating for the shoulder injury.

No wonder the poor cat is peeing on the floor! Her injury has to be hurting her more now that she is older, she may have arthritis in her shoulder and that would made it harder to climb into a litter box that is on a self. I would put the litter box on the floor and have a few in the house so your cat will not to walk a lot .
