Lifting a Non-Breeding Contract
I'd like to breed my bullmastiff, but the breeder is no longer in business. I have a non-breeding contract with them which they were required to lift. Does anyone know if I can I have it lifted any other way?

I suppose you can check with an attorney and ask if the contract is still viable...or as someone knowlegable at a breed club.

There may well be a reason why the breeder didn't want this dog bred.
If I am not mistaken, beside Hip and Elbow Dysplasia, there are several other genetic problems that can be found in Bullmastiffs. Has your dog been tested and cleared of them? Is he to the breed standard? What about his temperment?

So very true Sandi. When I got my sister her Siberian Husky sydney, she was on a non breeding contract. Now it doesn't mean that something is wrong with her. It's just that the breeder didn't want her to be bred.It is a written contact. It was also on her Canadian Kennel Club papers. You cannot get off of it.You cannot breed your dog.It will be illigal. There is no way out of it.And if I am correct,it will be registered with the Canadian Kennel club that he is on a non breeding contract. Why do you want to breed your dog?

Just a side thought, some breeders put a non breeding contract out to try and keep the business for themself! Now this doesn't mean you have the right to breed the dog if you can get the contract lifted.

Not not at all.
Don't forget, licenced reputal responsible breeders only breed once to twice a year. These are show dogs. They are breeding to better their breed. The no breeding contract is so that the new owners DON'T breed to any dog.If that all made sence.LOL There is a woman who breeds champion bulldogs. And if you know anything about the breed, they have health issues and they have to do artificial insemination. She has a non breeding contract that is signed. If you breed the dog,you are fined $10,000. She doen't screw around either.
